Friars' dinner for a cause a success

UPDATE: The gift giving of the friars took place in two different locations: Last Tuesday, December 20, they went to the Tahanang Mapagkalinga ni Mother Rita (TMMR) in Guiguinto, Bulacan, which is an orphanage run by ASOLC and yesterday, December 21, they went to the Monastery of Our Mother of Good Counsel in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan to visit the Augustinian Contemplative Nuns and to give gifts to the different families living near the monastery of the nuns. They were able to give more than 80 bags to all the families which was filled with different 'Noche Buena' items.

ORIGINAL STORY

The simple professed friars were able to gather enough money to buy goods that will be distributed to our homeless brethren following the success of their "DINNER FOR A CAUSE" activity.

The DINNER FOR A CAUSE activity entitled, "Let us SERVE you so we can SERVE others" aims to raise funds for our homeless brethren around Intramuros, around BASECO, to our brothers and sisters at the Tahanang Mapagkalinga ni Mother Rita, an orphanage of the Augustinian Sisters of Our Lady of Consolation (ASOLC) and to different families in Bulacan near the monastery of the Augustinian Contemplative Nuns.

The dishes served during the event include Tenderloin and Ratatouille with pesto and mango sauce, Duck Confit Ravioli in a bed of crabfat reduction and spinach with cauliflower sauce, Slow cooked Sirloin with mashed potatoes and sweet onions and beet puree drizzled with jus and a four layer treat of mint panna cotta, chocolate spongecake, chocolate sauce, topped with strawberry, peach, and lime sorbet.

The dishes were cooked and served by the friars to various guests last December 10 and December 17, 2016 at the Professorium refectory.
