Seminario welcomes its new Prior, Vocations Director

Seminario San Agustin Intramuros welcomed its new Prior of the house, Rev. Fr. Jumbim Fuentes Torres, OSA, J.C.L. through a mass that was attended by the whole community last November 08, 2016 held at the Professorium chapel of the seminary.


“Sana ang mga pagkakaiba natin ay hindi maging hadlang upang tayo ay magkaisa [with] one heart and one mind intent upon God,” [I hope that our differences may not become hindrances for us to be united with one heart and one mind intent upon God.] Fr. Jumbim said in his speech.


A community dinner at the Postulancy house followed after the mass.


Fr. Jumbim takes the new role of becoming the new Prior of the Seminario starting October 29, 2016, the position formerly held by the Vicariate of the Orient’s Regional Superior, Rev. Fr. Peter Acevedo Casino, OSA, S.Th.D. Fr. Jumbim is also the New Master of the Simple Professed Brothers, the position formerly held by Rev Fr. Roy Lim Gallano, OSA. Fr. Peter is one of the four friars that were assigned to the newest community of the Vicariate at Colegio San Agustin – Bulacan, while Fr. Roy remains as the Procurator of the Professorium community.


Meanwhile, there is also a new Vocation Director for the Vicariate: Rev. Anthony P. Acupan, OSA.


He takes the new role of becoming the new Vocation Director of the Seminario and of the Vicariate starting October 29, 2016, the position formerly held by Rev. Fr. Geoffrey Adriano Eborda Jr., OSA. He has also been named as the new Assistant Master of the Simple Professed Brothers, the position held Fr. Jumbim before. Fr. Geoffrey is one of the three friars that will be sent overseas to help establish the first community and mission station of the Vicariate outside the Philippines.


The reshuffling of the friars is not only happening in the seminary but also to the other communities, but not all, in order to cater all of the territories and mission stations of the Vicariate, especially in BASECO, in MANILA, in MAKATI, in BULACAN and in CATANDUANES.


The Augustinian Vicariate of the Orient is a circumscription of the Augustinian Province of the Most Holy Name of Jesus of the Philippines. Its primary goal is to make the Order present in China, to re-establish the order in India and to the continue the spirit and legacy that was brought forth by the Spanish Augustinian friars who first brought the Catholic faith to the Philippines in 1565.
