"These brothers and sisters serve as exemplars to all of us to continue and be committed in our mission as religious..."
This is what Rev. Marlon David, OSA of the Bulacan community highlighted in his homily during a mass for the deceased Augustinian friars and sisters held at the La Loma Cemetery in Caloocan City earlier today.
The mass was presided by Rev. Fr. Peter A. Casiño, OSA, Regional Vicar of the Augustinian Vicariate of the Orient along with other Augustinian friars from the different communities of the Vicariate. The seminarians of Seminario San Agustin community also attended the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.
Also present in the mass earlier were the Augustinian Sisters of Our Lady of Consolation (professed nuns, novices and postulants) coming from their communities in Luzon. The novices and some nuns served as the choir during the celebration.
Food and drinks were distributed after the mass.
This mass is a part of the long tradition of the Augustinians. It also serves as a 'mini reunion' for the Augustinian family in Luzon for it is during this day when they all gather to pray for their deceased brothers and sisters, and have different conversations with each other.
